The long awaited update!

Hola fellow bloggers! I am sorry for the lack of updates over the last 5 days or so... I have been one busy woman....

This weekend was like my life, generally compared to the speeding bullet train, had changed tracks and paces, something more like the train ride at Busch Gardens... slow and easy going, for the purposes of enjoyment alone!

Friday - Larry and I headed down to Cape Coral for a party, and to see Ruth. This was my main reason for going, and Larry just went so that I would not have to drive so far alone... Oh speaking of Lar, please give him a warm welcome back into the blogger realm! You can read his rendition of what happened here: My Ramblings... I have missed his blog posts!

Any how, the ride down was nice... we played a game of truth or truth, and to be honest, I think I pretty much knew all his truths... lol guess that is what being bestest pals is all about! Well Ruth and Andy met us at our hotel, and we headed to the party, where Ruth fell ill pretty quickly.

She did not even drink. I was sad, but still made the best of it, and had a few (a few too many) drinks. I was the only female our age there, as Ruth went to lay down, so I slipped out unnoticed to make a phone call. Hello James! The night was pretty blurry after that, as I really don't drink often, but I do remember Larry making me drink a lot of water (thank you Lar). I woke up the next day feeling not too poorly and we headed home, stopping at Tuesday's for lunch ~ bad idea... not long later, I am feeling the unfortunate affects of the combination of Tuesday's and drinking too much. We had to stop at a rest stop, where in, I felt much better after. When we finally got back to G-ville, we headed to the mall, as it is now New Years Eve, so that I could get a shirt (Larry ended up getting one too!)

Larry Dropped me off at James' house for ice skating (thus beggining date # 3). It was my first time at his house. He has a kayak in his living room, and it looks good there! I think we will get along just fine, lol! Ice skating in Florida in 80 degree weather, you would not think it was possible, but alas it is. James has never been, so this was fun. I am usually pretty steady on ice skates, but there was standing water on the rink, so it was a little slicker than usual. I tried to hold his hand to steady him.... big mistake... he just took us both down. It was quite funny him sitting in a puddle on his but, and me on my hands and knees in a puddle, laughing our asses off. I was still able to skate backwards and forwards and do a few spins, but not so gracefully. He dropped me by my house so I could get ready for the big night.

We all (Larry and his chick, James and I) headed to Friday's for dinner, and it was pretty good! Lar gave his seal of approval (thus far) on James, which is impressive. Then James and I went clubbing. We hit Durty Nelly's (an Irish pub), and what I thought was going to be a party from hell, Fusion... turned out to be quite dead. But it was kinda nice this way, we were able to steal away from the crowd for a new years kiss.... my first in a long time! :) We headed to the library (pub, grub and club) and danced till I was too drunk to stand anymore. LOL!

Gosh this only brings us to Sunday.... what did we do Sunday, slept late, went and grabbed lunch, watched tv, then he dropped me at my house so I could make us a new years dinner. Grilled pork chops, corn bread, black eyed peas and rice. Then we watched a couple of movies. It was a very relaxing day indeed. It was Monday though that seemed to be a perfect day! We slept in, got up and I made breakfast, went to his house to watch the Gator game (the Outback bowl) closing our season with 9 wins - 3 losses, any day the Gators win is a good day in my book. They played hard!

After that we took Draco for a nature hike on a trail in a park near my house... went shopping, and saw a double rainbow!

Then headed back to his house to change for dinner. He took me to the nicest seafood place called Ballyhoos, where I had Alaskan Snow Crab, and he showed me how to eat it. I made a huge mess and it was totally socially acceptable.... LOL!

Did I mention what we went shopping for? Discs, he got a set of discs so that we can go play disc golf! I will finally be able to use the set I got for my birthday in April.... lol, I also bought a couple of extras (finally) so that two people can play with just my set.

Yesterday was back to work, but I did not mind, like I said this is the busiest time of year for me at work. And this was my view on the drive there.

I came home and made dinner and a carrot cake, and fed both James and Larry! It is nice cooking for more than just one person. I don't have a lot of time to do it during the semester, so between semesters is fun! I was starting to feel like maybe I was getting a sinus infection though. I woke up 50 times last night with my throat killing me. finally this morning I called work and told them I would not be in. My poor throat is so swollen and inflamed it hurts to swallow. I am really aggravated, becuase I had lots of stuff to do today at work. But instead I have spent the entire day in bed. Some of it just laying here, most of it sleeping, and some playing on the computer. lol! I was supposed to make dinner tonight too, but I don't want to get anyone else sick, nor do I really feel like being in the kitchen standing that long~

Well, that brings us up to date...

Thought for the day: A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes ~Hugh Downs

Factiod: Antartica is the only land on our planet that is not owned by any country. It is a place that nobody wants, but then some of them don't want anyone else to have it either. As a consequence, several countries with scientific and other interests ave signed treaties stating that no one of them owns the region/continent, and that research may be carried out by anyone.
